Bryce True
Executive Partner
Brick & Bond Inc.
Bryce True is a third-generation family member of a Casper, WY based firm initially founded in the oil & gas sector. Over the last 76 years, the family organization has grown from exploration & production to include several oil field related companies, a community bank, ranches, an AI firm specializing in pipeline leak detection, a real estate startup and a myriad of family office investments.
The family ownership structure has grown and shrunk as branches left to pursue their own passions. Currently, there are two remaining second-generation owners, six third-generation and the potential for fifteen+ fourth-generation owners of the 18 operating businesses closely held by the family. Bryce started his career with the family as a bank teller and finished several years of training as Assistant Vice President of Client Treasury Services. After graduating from the Graduate School of Banking in 2021, Bryce left day to day operations and joined Hilltop Bank’s Board of Directors in 2022. Also in 2021, Bryce helped found Brick & Bond, the real estate firm charged with addressing the family’s commercial properties and to help develop their downtown.
As the Executive Partner for real estate operations, Bryce overseas the company’s development portfolio, long-term hold portfolio as well as real estate investment functions for his branch’s informal family office. In addition to the day-to-day operations of the real estate sector, Bryce serves on the Executive Committee with 3 other owners providing general oversight to all operations, with specific downlines in ranching, trucking, oilfield retail and drilling operations. He serves on the Board of Directors for Infinite Outdoors, another startup but this one focused on expanding access to private lands through a reservation and mapping application.
On the horizon, Bryce sees more need for governance, organizational and employment clarity due to the breadth and complexity of family dynamics in operating businesses. Family charters and employment committees have provided some framework, but there are still a few hurdles to overcome on the road ahead. Good advice and transparency will be key to their success.
